Stars, gleaming in the night,
The moon glistening on the river;
What beauty is this that entices and enchants the wicked souls of men?
Come to me, O starry sky; let me feel thy splendor.
Tempt my soul with your seductive lights, you vast gentility.
Collaborate my mind to the vast and wondrous worlds beyond my own.
Meld with me, until mind becomes beauty, soul becomes star, and body becomes light.
Stars, gleaming in the night,
The moon glistening on the river;
