Favorite Quote:
If you're not closer to God today than you were yesterday, guess who moved.

As surfers
Battle with the waves,
Sometimes winning,
Sometimes losing,
So we battle with
The waves of life.

Each wave the wind blows in,
Curls and crashes
Against the shore.

You are the shore.

Challenges come,
Opportunities present themselves.

Don't run away
From the waves
Threatening to pull you under.
Ride them, be a surfer.
Should you fall,
Get up,
Wipe the salt from your eyes,
And see the beauty of life--
The opportunities before you.
Take them,
They're knocking at your door.
Don't let them pass you by.

Right now, today,
An opportunity awaits,
Don't let life's waves drown you.
Take a step,
Dare to be a surfer
And give your waves a challenge--
A bigger challenge than they give you.

Be the challenge.

The author's comments:
This poem is about challenges and opportunities that people encounter in their life. It asks the audience to face challenges and take opportunities rather than sitting back, letting opportunities pass by, and being pommeled by the challenges, or "waves," life throws at them.
