Carpe Diem
Time is flying past you faster
than light or sound could ever hope to go.
The minutes tick away, each one taking
a small piece of you with it into eternity.
Now is your moment
to feel your flesh, bones, muscles reach out
And stop the hands of the clock with clenched fists.
Crush the numbers into nothing.
Now uncurl your fists and reach.
Feel the clouds swirl through your fingers,
the stars brush against your skin.
Feel the heat of the sun in your bones.
The world is your oyster,
do with it what you will.
The most important thing to remember
Is that you must do something.
You hold the ability to move the world.
You think and feel differently
than anyone before you has,
or anyone after you ever will.
The world is scarred with the stories
of millions of stars fallen from the skies.
It’s your turn to leave
a glimpse of your light.
The world is your rooftop,
And all ears are listening to your voice.
You get one chance to leave an echo of yourself on this planet.
What will your verse be?
