The Stage
The dark choral room,
teems with worry and doubt,
with edges of confidence.
Everything is a blur as the room- overflowing the safe capacity,
becomes brightened with electric makeup and beautiful costumes.
Curls hang from wigs on top of the girls heads,
and boys have their hair slicked back with gel and bobby pins.
Everyone rushes to finish their appearance,
as the doors fling open.
I step under the bright lights in front of seven-hundred people,
to deliver the first line.
