If Loving's a Mistake...
I grew up being told
loving’s a mistake
because no matter who you hold
will soon put you at stake.
My heart desired to find it,
but something held me back
soon I put up walls
that made them hard to crack.
My heart of stone
turned into dust
no single kiss
would lead to lust
and I sit here pondering
where my emotions went
when pain took my heart
broke it and bent.
I want to believe
he’s somewhere out there
waiting in the shadows
to erase despair.
I want to hold him
to sleep through the night
and when nightmares attack me
to chase them and fight.
but no such person will ever exist
my hopes and faith dissolve in the mist.
