Nine all-star appearances,
five gold glove awards,
second among all third basemen in

Slugging average,

Runs batted in,

Total bases,

And walks.
Ron Santo deserves a
Hall of Fame induction.

He led the Cubs his entire career
along with Billy Williams and Ernie Banks.
His patented heel-click after a home win,
will stand as one of the greatest
traditions in Cubs history.
Ron Santo deserves a
Hall of Fame induction.

He played, humble, with diabetes,
throughout his career.
He never asked pity for the disease,
and he played when little was known.
He let his mood judge blood sugar,
and ate candy bars to boost it up.
He took at-bats seeing not one,
but sometimes four pitchers
because of his dizziness
(and still hit game ending home runs).
Yet he still managed to finish second
in games played at third base.
Ron Santo deserves a
Hall of Fame induction.

No Cub will ever wear
the number ten jersey that hung
on Ron Santo’s shoulders.
No fan will ever forget

his great defense,

his retired number acceptance speech,

and his charismatic radio voice.
And someday,
no voter will ever know what
Went through his mind when he
Denied Ron Santo a vote.
Ron Santo deserves a
Hall of Fame induction.
