Quiet and unmoving
He sits and observes
His hands rest against pebbles embedded in the bank
The water glistens and his mood is calm
His feet are dipped into the water up to his ankles
A slow sprinkle drifts from the gray sky
And ripples form in circles from big to small
A drop on his nose
Another on his hand
He blinks several times,
Wondering not for the first time if this were real
Reaching, he plucks a yellow lilly from the water
He smiled, watching the sun's rays shine through the dark clouds
"What a day," he says, his voice rich with warmth
His wife takes his free hand, her eyes gleaming
Her beautiful face studying the sky along beside him
He wished he could preserve this memory
A portrait he would cherish forever
He would name it:
An Everlasting Memory

I'm not sure, but I imagined this scene in my head. I hope you enjoy it. It's not morose like most of my other ones, and for that I am glad.
