A Summer Party
It was once in a while
Not to often at all
That a summer party sprung up in the neighborhood
Over fine food, good company would share stories and exchange laughs
On the veranda content and full, the night would lazily come, as coffee, biscuits and port slowly dripped away
The laughs would continue deep into the night
From the now dark and chilling fields the sweaty children excited would skip into sight
Swooping the last bits of sweets
Children would cuddle to their mother’s blossom dresses and fall asleep,
warmed by the enchantment of the good company
