Your Warm Dawn

January 6, 2010

I see You lying there in the cave.
Oh, how did You manage to be so brave?
Your sweet mother places the cloth over Your head.
Oh, how could You possibly be dead?
We had watched as Your life was unjustly robbed.
Oh, how we sobbed and sobbed!

As I leave, homeward bound,
I see the gloom all around.
Even the trees, dead and covered in moss,
Stand lonesome, mourning this loss.

I wish You could have stayed,
But I am not afraid.
This cold darkness will eventually end.
Your warm dawn will soon return.
