Dreams
Sometimes, I dream of a forest
Of a pathway that leads me to a utopia
Where I can walk without sadness in my step
A place where I can move with a newfound grace that unfolds carefully from my soul
You and I, we feel our shoulders lighten, and the corners of our mouths upturn into a smile
I dream of the trees
Filled with lush green
The branches, they bend but don't break
And they fill with plump fruits
That leave the taste of sweetness in our mouths
I dream of clear waters
Of streams that cleanse, that purify, that renew
The waters wash my hands,
Bloodied from stitching back together my heart
I dream of the soft breeze
And the way my light cotton dress, trying to capture the wind, tickles my calf
The gentle moving air whispers in my ear
Sweetly speaking words that erase the bitter ones said by the others, the ones who hurt us
I dream we are guided to a cave
Where they will never find us
Where these bad thoughts don't echo
Then you press your palm to mine,
And our fingers lace together
And you look at me with delicate eyes
And I know that we'll be alright
That everything will be alright
