Myself
This dark corner
I've kept myself in for what seems to be an eternity
Is beginning to be all I know
How could this be?
Once so strong and courageous
Now so reserved and abashed
I ask now what has become of me?
And no matter how much I deny it
I know, deep down lies the answer
The one we all dread
They say
One thing we can give away
And still keep
Is our word
But what happens
When our very words
Become the only reason
For our anguish
I used to fear the dark
But now
I know in my heart
The only thing I have to fear
Is
Myself
