It Will Not Last Forever
In the darkness I lie waiting
And the wait's excruciating
Wanting, wishing, needing, yearning
Reaching out, but not quite learning
I detest this deep despair
I know that life will not be fair
The worst part is the unending fall
Pretending I despise it all
Then I begin to overcome
Remember that I am someone
That I have worth - tried and true
These discrepancies are just a few
I wash the sorrow from my face
Rise with confidence and grace
Declare I'm not afraid to stand alone
Even if I might have to be on my own
As I walk out towards light
Life restarts our wretched fight
Shaken, angry, and distraught
I loathe this web in which I'm caught
For comfort I make the desperate choice
To try and recall my mother's voice
"This miserable endeavor
Will not, cannot last forever"
-I sincerely hope she's right.
