The quest for the American dream
Who could ever know what it would be
All journey with a common theme
Someday someone will find out maybe

Tom Joad lives for just the present
Huck Finn can't get past his mistakes
Willy Loman has no judgement
Muley with his stubborn toothaches

American dreams are wishes
A hope for something better
That only get you inches
Sometimes not even dinner

The author's comments:
After reading The Grapes of Wrath, The Death of a Salesman, and Huckelberry Finn, they all have the common goal of attaining the American dream, whatever that may be. Willy Loman sees success and leaving a legacy after he is gone, the Joad family sees the American dream in California, Huck Finn finds it in letting the slave stay free. Everyone has an American dream that keeps them going in life.
