The last words
you said to me
as you walked out,
out on me.
They linger in the air,
stuck in my mind. And
there they’ll stay,
until the end of time.
You said
you’re done,
I’m leaving today.
You said you’re sick
of the games we play.
You left me there,
all alone.
You left me there,
a stranger in my home.
Now I’m left sitting here,
wondering where I went wrong.
Now I’m sitting here,
singing our old songs.
Left alone,
thinking of you.
Left alone,
feeling blue.
Reminiscent of a time when
we had it figured out,
of a time before
you made me doubt
our love,
our fire.
Our passion,
our desire.
Wishing you stayed,
knowing it has ended.
Knowing our love
had gone long unattended.
The last words
you said to me
as you walked out
and turned to leave.
They linger in the air,
stuck in my mind. And
there they will stay,
Until the end of time.
