A Summer Slumber

A warm summer day,
The light streaming
through the window
illuminating the couch,
where a dog is asleep.
Its chest rising and falling,
in a slow rhythmic pattern.
A light breeze escapes,
playing with his fur.
His fur, a black so dark,
it seems like it’s pulling you in.
And in the midst of all this darkness,
there is light.
Bright patches of white
scattered on its back.
A tiny smile playing on his face.
Carefree in its slumber,
enclosed in his cocoon.
Secluded from the world.
The image of pure peace.
