Ode to New Converse Shoes
Clean and colorful
and anything but plain.
Gray and green and black and pink,
splodged with random numbers
and letters
and flowers,
and rainbow colored stars.
An explosion of color
splashed into cloth
and shaped into Converse shoes.
On top, the laces still white and new;
unmucked with the dirt of wear.
Unworn, untorn.
New.
Unlike anything else I’ve ever known.
These are the shoes
I will have adventures in.
These are the shoes
I will make big, bold decisions in.
These are the shoes
I will be my weird, crazy self in.
In these shoes,
I will show the world
what I’m made of.
