In the pocket of my deep-sleep mind,
I wait for a momentary break in sound.
An obituary for those dreary-eyed people,
In rose-colored font this paper betrays me.

A distant memory of my hometown,
The jostle of my brain waves maybe.
Here, in this distant plane, I wait
For echoes of my past, a place so great and bright
Yet a cacophony like a bottomless chasm.

This moment, frozen in time,
Begins to unravel.
I go to festivals with my family;
We watch as universes collide.

Those I love, glowing,
Fade like ash and dust before my eyes.
And this has to happen — to live
In this fantasy, this impossible world.

I too fall…
and hope that I never wake up.

This poem focuses on the feeling of unreality you experience in dreams. I tried to touch on the confusion of twisted memories, the fear of being trapped in your mind, and the warmth gained from living in a different world.
