Drop of ink
A drop of ink,
That’s all it takes,
An open heart,
A pair of wings.
A sallow page,
A piercing quill,
A splash of ink,
From white to grim.
An oval light,
A shining hope,
A small locked cage,
With no way out.
But with this key,
I fit the lock,
I hear a click,
Now am I free?
A flurry of wings,
So many hues!
Silky feathers,
Flying through the dim.
Vanished they seem,
They’re only dots,
Stains of colour,
Fringed with gold.
So far away,
Yet closer so,
Glint every night,
Under moonlit trees.
A wondrous sight,
The sight of freedom,
Tiny sparrows,
Cardinals so crimson.
An explosion of light,
A starlit sky,
Each songs they share,
A flame rekindled.
And all it takes,
Is a sallow page,
A piercing quill,
A drop of ink.

This illustrates my love for writing and all that it takes is a drop of ink and an open heart
