Wisteria Remembers
Wysteria was the first and the last
At the dawn of the morning, dark and cold of night
It lingers, like a forgotten relic of the past
In the next, you know this isn’t right
Now you are anew, the wind a pleasant draft
The birds are chirping, a few aflight
Still you sit, your breathing steadfast
You wonder. Is this really alright?
Nothing to be done, this is nonpast.
All you have is tomorrow, and tonight
If they knew, they’d be aghast
Heavy sighs, you think you finally see the light

This poem centers around my mental health. I've been diagnosed with depression since I was 12 and have always struggled with it in my day to day life. I've often found myself romanticizing and mourning the past despite how awful a time it may have been for me. This describes my journey of accepting change and wanting to get better.
