The Permanent Beast
Humanity will be destroyed by their beast
Not even they themselves can escape it
Trial, tribulation, but I know God
The descendants of the serpent and temptation
How could the Lord make the adversary stronger than man?
Left to ourselves, cast out of paradise
Contemplating what could be
Happiness or flashiness?
How do you serve the question?
Epidemic upon epidemic of mental distress
Some of humanity thinks of themselves
I ponder the actions of Helel
Striving for the freedom and potential of man
To grow feathered wings, forming strong gusts,
and become gods of their own
Are we not similar?
“How you have fallen from Heaven,
O star of the morning, son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the Earth,
You who have weakened the nations!”
Pride is the perfect, permanent enemy to humanity
Just as it was to the Morning Star of Heaven
God knows not to be prideful, God changed
Knowing of humanity’s wrongdoings
The permanent beast within humanity will emerge again
Humans are the children not of the Tetragrammaton
Humans are the children of the Fallen Morning Star

As I write this, in the afternoon of May 8th of 2024, I am a senior in high school. My inspiration of this poem stems from my interpretations of the motivations of Lucifer, the Morning Star as outlined in the Bible. I haven't read the scriptures, as I am agnostic, but religion greatly interests me. I decided to write about how Lucifer's downfall is not coincidentally also humanity's downfall.
