Boundless Identity

In this world

Of good and bad,

Rules are set,

And meant to be kept.

Society whispers it's every desire.

Controlling our every step.

And dictating all our actions.

But we must follow them.

Whether we like it or not,

Whether they make us happy or mad.

To keep the Status Quo.

to be accepted

To be accepted

But,

It can be a poison,

So self destructive.

That our every move,

Is influenced by the rules.

The rules that society makes

So,

We should aim to break them.

Break these rules

For the saying

“Rules are meant to be broken”

Is also very true.

The author's comments:

I put together this poem to dig into the idea of identity from different angles. This poem explores a different part of who we are, whether it's about the meaning of our names, dealing with society's expectations, or the struggle to figure ourselves out. This poem was inspired by the everyday experience of trying to figure out who we are.
