“Choose Right”
“To look back on each other from above”
Is only the beginning.
When our time is up
And our light is turned off,
We (c)an’t help but be forced to see our impact.
When we are above the soft, w(h)ispers of clouds
Laying t(o) rest,
We can only see who we were,
What we were.
Were we h(o)peful,
In(s)piring,
Loving,
Gentle,
Brave,
Strong?
Who are we when no one is around?
What is our testimony?
What is the summary of our life?
Who do we wish to see?
And possibly become?
Our life is measured by impact
The impact on people and the world
What mark will we leave behind us?
The world offers so much,
But what will we leave in return?
Our future is full of decisions
So we must choose
(Right.)

This poem was inspired by a line from a published poem. I wanted to take the line and make it my own by making it my first line. It prompted me to write about the questions that we all have about the world and who we are.
