weather
possibilities are those clouds,
dollops of ivory cream that speckle my pale sapphire sky
that i reach for and mold into little shapes
and a straggly halo that illuminates my planet, but
soon, they become strangling,
amassing and twisting into murk,
leaving me to suffocate in a mass of ashen dust bunnies.
before, i would screw my eyes shut as i waited
for barrage and flood, the
compost for that undergrowth of
brambles lodged in my cranium.
now, i’m no longer a stranger to downpours—
i have grown to
bask in the imminent petrichor.
