Is it bad to think about you

when I see the white lines in the road?

But also the yellow,

and in the crosswalk,

separating the road

from the side streets.

Separating what was from what’s now.

The sky can't see what we can see.

We made it ourselves,

and only for us.

The birds won’t see the lines

We’ve made between you and me

And us and them

There are white lines

And yellow lines

And crosswalks

Between us and the world when I’m with you

When I’m with you

There’s miles between us

And whoever is banging at the door

Trying to get in

And whoever is banging at the door

Trying to get in

Will never stop me from wondering

If it’s bad that I think about you

When I see the white lines in the road

I don't often use this type of metaphor in poetry and I wanted to try something out using my new emotions towards someone.
