The light of the night shines brighter than the sun of my youth

Our laughter fills the frigid crisp air voiding the silence

Cups lay over spilling the contents on the pavement

Running like children playing a game of tag

The cold wet grass sticks to the bottom of our feet

our bodies stay warm by the presence of eachother

Sometimes the nostalgia hits so hard

and my memory is too vivid, too real

I can feel it all over again

Why is it

when the story ends

we start to feel

When will it be the moments we live in

and not

The memories.

The author's comments:

This poem is about a valuable memory I have that defines my highschool experience and growing up. I truly believe memories help us grow and change as a person, when I need comfort I find it easy to think back to a better time. I struggle to live in the moment rather than dwell and wish back upon memories.
