Following Echos of Perfection
The moment where you try to catch the sunset
Only to just miss it
The cool evening wrapped around the shoulders of shadows
Present but unattainable
The feeling where you’re running away
Destination in mind but never in sight
Retreating through the depths of untraversed worlds
A single slip
A trip over an invisible branch
And you’re uncontrollably spilling over the edge in seconds
no bottom in this colorless, inevitable chasm
Free floating never feels free
When expectations of hitting the ground and walking away unscathed
Are placed in frail arms
How can you walk when landing could shatter everything?
The silence is deafening
Yet it’s not quiet enough
Swimming through thoughts
Barely grasping memories of times when the light shined golden and not gray
Stuck in the inbetween of what could happened and what will be
There’s nothing here
In the midnight recesses
The “darkest corners”
Nothing but yourself
And the feelings you live with
Days pass by in waves of grays
The longer it takes to paint jovial faces
The quicker they fade
Sometimes the haze takes a break
We can grab the wall and pull ourselves to the top
Whispers of the carefree person of the past escape
And all we can do is hope we stay standing
