I think it’s humorous,

comical even,

that despite all my wishes 

you chose him even when

you were left to happily liaise with the rest of the fishes.

And I’m left here to say “why won’t they pick me”

as you prance around happily with 

all of the fishes in the sea

that could ever possibly be.

Your soul purpose is to overshadow my existence,

ensuring that when the fish swim by they are captured by your beauty and integrity,

so enthralled they don’t even spare a second glance for me.

And for me there are no other fish in the sea,

just the one that you snatched away so giddily.

I wonder why out of so many choices

you still chose the one that I rejoiced with.

Now alone I sit,

weeping in the kitchen,

because despite my best wishes,

you still managed to steal all of my favorite fishes.
