is this house really home if i've never felt safe here?

i'm back home again
and i'm happy to be
really.
i mean
what did i expect
a celebration for the prodigal son's return?
i mean
a pat on the back or
maybe a hug would've been nice
but a lost son is the prodigal
see,
when the daughter goes missing
no one even bothers to look.
but i'm all better now
and that's recognition enough
except for when it isn't,
right?
