Lucia

Saint Lucia, does she carry still?

Can she hold me taut forever?

Can she stretch me holy as herself?

To the blind, I am nearly able-bodied.

She calls me a fool and for this, I yell.

Saint Lucia, marched on faith alone;

Her faith, alone, will it carry me still?

Weighed by pen and his ink-blotted sea?

It’s been overflown, sweet Lucia, carry me!

Along the coast, and so I drain along.

Saint Lucia, sweet Lucia, give me life.
