daddy, let me help

she cries when she sees her dad's hands
they're so swollen
and stiff
that he can't pick up a sheet of paper between two fingers
and his pain hurts her, cuts and slices into her
she sees him flinch as he tries to do something with his hands
that she could do thoughtlessly,
and she wonders, why?
she knows God has a plan through this
but why her dad? why him?
why not someone, anyone else?

My dad has really severe rheumatoid arthritis. I trust God in this, and I know He will work it out for good, but it's so hard.
