Just a toy

Would you love me if I was a worm?

Asking if there would be one way,

One single way to love me back.

Maybe it’s too hard

Or you might need more time.

I ask ‘why do I keep running like

A cheetah trying to capture its prey’

But prey can only run to

To a certain extent.

Eventually, it would run out of energy to get away,

But you never knew that.

Since you have been running from problems that keep on piling up.

The problems that chase you would usually hide away like the passing seasons,

But they're always there, biting, eating at you for their hibernation.

But there was no obligation to what happened, only purposeful pain.

Like a Great Dane panning across a living room for a toy,

But I was the toy left for a new one, a replacement.

I wrote this for someone, also for an assignment for one of my classes so here I'm showing one of my poem pieces. :)
