It is impossible to break the law. We can only break ourselves against the law.

Elevators jump to and fro,

To get where they need to go.

Where skyscrapers thrust out of road lanes,

And metal arms nearly crash some planes.

There is a window near the chapel,

Where she lies, the Lady of Big Apple.

The enchanting emerald eyes she’s been gifted,

Can’t explore a world that has always existed.

Her golden locks flow up in a bun,

Strands of hair glistening in the sun.

An oversized T, teal in colour,

Making life around her duller

Pants, baggy maroon,

The fashion worn on a descended day in June.

Known but not known,

The curse of the penthouse lady.

Know but not known,

Rumours and fake news, oh so shady.

It is said there's a curse wrapped round her,

Where she can't look out at the world.

The world of smoke and liquor,

Where secrets were neatly furled.

But remember—

This was the big apple.

A place where technology ruled,

A place where technology governed.

Blinding lights, oh so bright,

A house of mirrors she stays, both day and night.

Inside she paces to and fro,

For you see one look at those flashing screens,

She will fade away so quick and clean

Like a stain in a washing machine.

The caged Lady of Big Apple.

From up above the world so high,

She hears a thundering roar pass by.

Now, who could that be?

Was it a god, she couldn’t guarantee.

The roar was getting louder still,

She was feeling all the thrill

Of what was going down below,

She really needed to know.

Thrashing open all the doors,

Breaking the ten windows

She poked her head and heard the scream,

The cameras the crowd, the lights the gleam.

Her feet danced with the beat,

There she was just down the street!

The Lady Gaga!

She waved and hollered with all her might.

She had found her hero in midst of the night,

The one who broke her from her cell

The one who broke her from her shell,

But couldn’t break her from her spell.

She gasped and choked in fear.

The curse oh no, her death was near

The lady Gaga, oh yes, her hero,

Was turning her to a zero.

Here she was, no more eager

As she danced into the night with the doomed reaper.

Now a rumour she was no more

As she fell from the marble floor.

The crowd yelped in fright

What a horrid sight

And down she went from near the chapel

The Lady of Big Apple
