the idle girl
to be guilted for my tired eyes
while concealed marrow rots
under the lens of your contempt
i believe you have mistaken my lack of function
for a choice to have none
i crave just as you do
the serenity of touch
and the warmth ignited as a result
just as you, i admire the void that encompasses me
i see every movement i’ve been implored to create
faintly discerning their effortless deeds
i have witnessed my opportunities
wash through me
as the stream from my hour long shower
glides down my back
hoping the degree of heat will be enough to scar.
to be called lazy while i must use force for every action
my strength is not recognized under the eyes of society
she’s shy
she’s timid
dull.
or does she just not have the strength to speak?

This piece embraces the complexity of being "shy". How the word does not give credit to the depth of an individual. There is always more to be seen.
