A bucket of cold water
dashed upon your head
icy droplets that
seep into your clothing
your skin
absorbed into your very being
freezing around your heart
and they expect you to
get over it
come through
it will pass
but how?
When the rain is still pouring
and you have nowhere to
shelter yourself
from its demanding presence.
People think you're crazy
for standing in the rain
but they don't understand that
it has you in captivity
frozen so you cannot
break free.
