Autumn’s red-haired beauty intoxicates me.

She smells like fresh earth, pumpkins, and cloves.

I saw her eyes glitter one night late in November,

clear starlight hit her eyes and they were a glittery blue as bright as thousand skies.

Her voice is low and sultry, like a crackling fire.

But my favorite thing about Autumn is her smile.

A wry smile that contains a humble wisdom of both death and rebirth.

Autumn keeps these secrets from me but I don’t care to know them.

She carries the weight of decay and beauty on her shoulders

never asking me to lessen the burden.

For that reason and more is why she is my one true love.

I can’t wait for fall, it is my favorite season. There is something so strange about starting new things (like school) during the season of decay… I wanted to capture some of that awe here.
