The Price of Freedom
What is the price for freedom?
What is the price for our flag?
Red, white, blue, and stars,
Forever in the air and forever in our hearts.
But what about the ones lost?
Who we forget.
Every year, on Memorial Day,
We gather to honor those who have fallen.
Then we eat at cookouts, cheer at parades.
But that doesn't come close to how we should remember.
Everyday we live in freedom.
Everyday our flag flies high in the sky.
But so much blood has been spilled for us not to remember, to honor, or just think of those who died.
And how we can live on their legacies, to continue what they fell for.
So we can stand up for the American Way.
And live in the land of the free, because of the brave.
A single death is a tragedy, but a million is a statistic.
But each had a story, each had a hope, and each had a will to go, go on, and give.
So, what is the price of freedom?
What is the price of our flag?
That, no one can tell you.
Because many still pay the price today.
Thank you.
