In a thousand different ways
Are the tiles
On my scrabble rack;
I try to reach to your
Very soul
As I have tried
A thousand times before;
Yet as the seconds become
Minutes,
As the years fade
Into centuries,
Until the footprints we once left
On the sands of time
Are washed away by the waves
Of a high tide,
