Where I am from

A cozy golden beach,

A peaceful paradise for me and my bench.

But dreadful dreams can hurt,

This is not where I’m from.

I am from a prolonged “hustle, hustle, hustle!”

that always quickens my heartbeat.

I am from “no, this is trash!”

which sullenly chokes my throat.

I am from a metropolitan

Trapped with tens of millions of people.

I am from under a gold cache,

hoping to one day rise.

I am from a jungle,

adventuring into a mysterious straggle.

I am from the sky,

where eagles fly.

The author's comments:

The poem’s purpose is for the author to reflect the disparity between reality and his desire for life. It answers the question, “What life journey do I want to take?”. Even though I live in a big city, I love traveling and am always curious exploring novel places and seeking new objects. Since I was little, my parents have taken me to experience different lives in deserts, snow mountains, bench terraces, etc. Thus, I know there are adventures, hardships, struggling and bizarre things out there other than just a mundane student life.
