                      Ode to the Bayou

   The mandarin sky melts ,

Skipping along with ebb and flow .

Bouquets of wild Hibiscus fill the air .

Just as the sun begins to set low .

   Nature's water garden is profuse

   with Wildflowers .

Swap Irises in shades of blue ,

   Cattails standing tall .

An alligator lies in the sun near the banks .

   Under the Lily pads ,

   There lurks croaking Bullfrogs .

While the snakes , slither in a shallow brine .

   Birds feathers brushed against ,

   The pastel light .

I pause awhile to gaze at this scene .

Where the twilight paints a lilac sky .

I return to my cottage in the bayou ,

Where the purple pea pods sprawl .

In bloom wisteria curls cry ,

And bright yellow bees crawl .

Oh , for I love the Bayou .

   The beauty of nature ,

Caressed with the swampland dreams ..........

The rhythms of the bayou resonate in my mind . Nature is beautiful in its own ways ..........
