A lush spring day turns to a frigid winter night

As the cheerful sun

A source of light

exits my view

Replaced by a

Frozen void of darkness and snow

lit up only by the vast moon and the cold green blue hues of the northern sky

Memories of the light drive my quest to leave this

Expanse of isolation

I venture towards the light alone

Open and vulnerable

As I approach the warmth of the exit

A frigid, angry hand

Tightly grips me from behind

It drags me away

I hear my bones crack

My end nearing

In one painful red burst

I am banished

To an afterlife of oblivion

The author's comments:

It describes the cycle of how the light can be taken out of someone and they can end up bitter and cold always searching for that light.
