I'm not special, I'm just limited edition.

My dear little brother,

my equal and my opposite.

You don't show your expressions,

yet you feel so much.

And I know that it hurt you, what happened,

but you can't keep blaming yourself.

It was more my fault than yours.

But here you are, counting the days

and escaping into your dreams at night.

Dreaming of happiness isn't living happiness,

and that other you, isn't you.

You are simply two forces

balanced on a lever of secrets and lies.

Stop this pattern of running and hiding.

You are only going in circles.

You could keep dreaming, but is it worth it

when the cost is forgetting who you really are?

My love for you is constant,

a compass for you to follow.

Follow it to the truth, to peace and happiness.

Forgive yourself, because I have.

I love you, little brother, and I hope you know

I'll always be watching over you.

The author's comments:

In math class, our teacher challenged us to write a poem using math terms. It was supposed to be for Valentines Day (today) but due to the fact that I'm aroace, I asked my teacher if it had to be a love poem. She said no. Instantly the idea for this poem started brewing.

Based off of the game OMORI by Omocat, this poem takes the point of view of Mari, and is being written to her younger brother, Sunny. I've been wanting to do some kind of fan work for OMORI, so I'm glad I was able to. It was also good to get out of my comfort zone, since I usually don't write free verse and this is only the second time I've ever done it. I tried to make sure to put all the love and forgiveness Mari feels for her brother in the poem while avoiding spoilers. All in all, I'm very proud of this poem, and if Omocat ever sees it, I hope she likes it too.
