i catch myself smoothing down my hair again
running my fingers over soft strands
like i am dialing
9-1-1
save me from the sin of my existence
Stay down
Don't speak
No sudden movements
one day i wore my hair natural
vacant air now occupied by frizz and curls
i'm sorry if i’m blocking your view
i wrap a piece around my finger
seethe and burn and scar
an hour later i am smooth
i am small
i am convenient
