A story has as many versions as it has readers - Winter Of Our Discontent

Why should I be honest

when I know the truth

when it hurts too much

to see my mistakes unravel

to see my friends stare

as if I were sheets of silk

so elegant

so seductive to the naked eye

but blind sighted by my shards of glass

tearing through

leaving cuts

that define the unfinished edges

and watching

as each singular strand

falls apart

by the sheerness

of a delicate touch

staining ivory white

into blood red

telling the truth

carelessness in response

The author's comments:

This poem really means a lot to me, I just got overwhelmed with myself and my life so I decided to start writing. And this is the writing that came out of it. I had written a lot about this piece but my tab didn't save and I lost all of it so here I am trying to come up with something meaningful to say but I can't.

I use writing to just escape my problems, it helps me express what I can never say to people. And that's what I did here. It's just about feeling like I'm not being heard, and when I do try to open up to people they tear me down.
