Better In Memory
I was so small, so young
the sky shone brightly down every day
the water in the pool rose high above me
laughing through fits of breath
there was so much to do,
every activity as new and interesting as the last
Now, I come back to revisit a memory
the water rises to my hips,
the sky is frowning with me
The slide I once was afraid of
stands lower than me
I’m stopped - too old for the slide.
What is there to do now?
