They always tell us
Every day is a new day
To start it over
However we wake
The same person that we were
When we went to bed
With the same struggles
And same troubled mind and heart
Making it tough to
Ever truly restart
What is actually true:
The past will never
Erase or be forgot
What’s history cannot change
Instead we can learn
Learn from mistakes made
Yesterday. Use them to make
A better today

I was inspired to write this piece coming out of a difficult time for me following countless setbacks. One of the influential figures in my life helped to realize that these setbacks are necessary in order for us to grow and progress in life. This revelation became my model for writing this piece.
