I waved to you in front of the boarding gate,
And you waved back.
I thought I should hug you,
But I didn’t,
Because of the many bags in my hand.
I turned away,
With my mind being changed.
I wanted to hug you,
But I hesitated.
I’m not sure if I’m still able to turn back again.
I texted you after passing the last security check,
And you called back.
I pushed my luggage,
While telling you an ice cream cone was offered.
You smiled and asked what’s its flavor.
I was outside Terminal 4,
Seeing my name on a Pick-up board.
So, I wished you a good night,
But I hesitated.
The red button seemed too red to press.
I became busy,
Adjusting to the local time,
Tidying up the room,
Preparing for my pre-seasonal sport,
Finishing up my summer works.
I swung on a swing,
As a treat to myself for surviving the first week.
The wind held me up high,
Probably too high that my thoughts reached you,
Still in dreamland seven thousand miles away.
I pictured your face in my mind.
I closed my eyes,
Followed by the smell of the dumplings we made
Coming through my nose.
So, I sniffed hard behind the mask.
The wind ceased,
And the swing stopped.
I stepped onto the ground,
But I hesitated.
When will you knock on my mind again?
It’s the season of falling leaves.
Creak, Creak, Creak,
Leaves paved the road.
But some hesitated,
To join this orange ocean.
