My world was drawn in shades of grey.

Colorless and boring.

Meaningless and dull.

There was no purpose.

Longing plagued my mind

All my life,

Haunting my mind.

Absence of everything,

Yet somehow nothing.

Long ago accepted -

It would never be fulfilled.

Deep desire drains

While longing empties -

All that is known,

Sacrificed for the unknown.

Color was unknown to me,

So I lacked longing for it.

You changed all that.

It’s sudden when you enter.

You’re unknown to me.

Yet you cause the desire in my heart to roar.

My heart screams your name -

Louder each time.

You shine brighter than any star.

In every second your light grew stronger,

Too powerful for my eyes.

How enchanted I am by you,

Like the earth to the sun.

You became the center of my universe,

All in a glance.

Clarity struck me

What it was I had longed for all my life,

Beyond description.

Color was nigh,

As were my feelings.

Color was my world

Only an instant.,

Never would I lose it,

No cost was too high -

To keep this.

Unknown to each other.

As strangers we approached.

Great poem and use of advanced vocabulary that describes your struggles. I'm glad that you found someone that lets you see the beauty of the world in its grand, vibrant colors.
