festive lanterns
adorns the hairline of the buildings above-
crowded streets of joy
merged with the night
a quarter of prosperity begins
with a new page
with a new spirit
upon the noisy crowd
the goddess Lakshmi
showers prosperity down
upon her children
upon the world
families gathered together
partaking in feasts
viewing fireworks
that light the heavens up
childhood memories
cascaded down
as I munched upon some mithai-
fluorescent rangolis
