Slave to the Water
Underneath the surface of the water
I look up and I see the sun shimmering through
It glimmers in the water like the world's most precious gem
I float
Weightless within myself
But the seas’ embrace holds me down
I reach for air but can’t touch
The light teases me with its glinting dance
Tiptoeing across the water
My hair floats behind me
I see strands flow into my view and glide away again
Unfazed by the hold of the oceans’ grasp
I can move quite freely
But can never reach the top
It evades me, never to be caught.

I write my work typically in a japanese style, switching from a visual of nature to something that I tie in/relate to it. I'm a highschool student and I'm starting to share my work because I have a goal to publish some. Thanks for reading.
