Fly Away
I stay perched on the bench in a row far enough away
Away from the cold body lying in the open casket
The sobbing of the heartbroken keeping me at bay
They try to be so nice they even put mints in a basket
The silence becomes deafening until they start to play
The slow music I bet they play for everyone’s saddest day
Laughter erupts from a couple of rows ahead
Interrupting the loved ones grieving their dead
This is not the time nor the way
Let the beautiful angel fly away
